• Larry likes to play the cello, despite his small size, Larry is an accomplished cellist.
• Pliny is revealed to have skills in noodling, while Larry, despite not having done it before, aces it on his first go.
• Given the episode's focus on Pliny and Larry, the other kids are minor characters here.
  • Francis and Chip do not appear throughout the rest of the episode after Larry declares he wants to noodle more things.
  • Merian appears on the boat as she convinces Pliny to tell Larry to stop noodling.
  • Sara is part of a running gag, where she sinks into quicksand.
